Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna, known for portraying India’s original superhero Shaktimaan, delighted fans by announcing the character’s return to Indian screens. In an interview with ANI, Khanna shared his deep connection with the role and expressed his excitement about reprising it.
While talking about his character, Khanna said, “This is a costume within me, I think personally too, in my mind, this costume has come from within me. I did well in Shatimaan because it came from within me. Acting is all about confidence. I forget about the camera when I am shooting. I am even happier than the others about becoming Shaktimaan again.”
Further, the actor elaborated about bringing back the popular show for the new generation. “I am carrying out my duty, which I started in 1997 and went on till 2005. I think my work should reach the public in 2027 because today’s generation is running blindly. They have to be stopped and told to catch their breath.”
On November 10, Mukesh piqued the curiosity of the fans after he shared the poster and teaser of Shaktiman while giving a glimpse of his comeback. In the said video, Shaktimaan is seen flying and landing in a school where he sings about freedom while gazing at photos of freedom fighters such as Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose and others.
Shaktimaan originally aired in 1997 on Doordarshan. It is unclear if the show will return as a film, a TV series, or a web series.
